Lumbini is located 350 km southwest of Kathmandu. It is said that Lumbini was a beautiful garden during the rule of the Shakya dynasty in southwest Nepal. Lumbini is famous because the Lord Buddha (also known as Light of Asia) was born here in 560 BC. Birth of Lord Buddha at Lumbini has been recorded in Pillar’s inspiration. Not only that the pilgrimage of Ashoka to Lumbini has also been recorded in a stone pillar 300-325 BC. The Ashoka pillar is about 9-meter tall that is made up of sandstone with having five-line inspiration. In 1998, Lumbini was listed as the Foutain of world peace and the pilgrimage for all the peace-loving people of the world.
Lumbini is one of the popular tourist destinations of Nepal and every year more than 400,000 people visit Lumbini. Lumbini Garden
The whole area in Lumbini is considered a garden. In here many countries like Thailand, Srilanka, and Japan help to build many monasteries. The most important finding in this place is a stone inscribed to suggest the accurate birthplace of Buddha.
Mayadevi Temple:
As we know Mayadevi is the mother of the Lord Buddha and this temple is a tribute to his mother. The statue of Mayadevi is constructed of the stone which is believed to be 2000 years old.
Puskar Pond:
Puskar Pond lies south of Mayadevi it was believed that Mayadevi took bath before giving birth to Buddha took his purifying bath in the same pond.
