Description

Annapurna Circuit is a first-class trek route in Nepal, backed up by great experiences with a variety of ethnic groups having their own tradition as well as languages. To head towards Annapurna Circuit, trekkers will have to take a local bus to Jagat, the northern-central part of Nepal. The trek starts from Jagat (1,300 m.) heading towards Tal (1,700 m.), Danaque (2,300 m.), Chame (2,670 m.), Upper Pisang (3,200 m.), Manang (3,540 m.), Ice Lake (4,600 m.), Tilicho Base Camp (4,150 m.), Tilicho Lake (4,990 m.), Yak Kharka (4,050 m.) and Thorang High Camp (4,925 m.).

Thorang-La Pass, (5,416 m.) is the highest point during the Annapurna Circuit. Making up to the Thorang-La Pass is indeed a strenuous job, altitude sickness being one of the frequent challenges. However, when the weather condition is good the trail is quite easy. At the base of Thorang-La Pass lies Muktinath temple, a sacred place for both Hindus and Tibetan Buddhists.

Tatopani meaning hot water in Nepali is a place with hot water spring. This place, from ancient periods, has been a trading post between Nepal and China. Locals here believe that taking a bath in the hot spring helps to cure joints and skin diseases.

After trekking up to Ghorepani from Tatopani, a hike of 6-7 hours will take visitors to Poon–hill (3,193 m). Poon-Hill is listed among the many popular trek-stops making it a little crowded at times. The astonishing view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri can be enjoyed from Poon-hill especially during sunrise. Tadapani and Syaulibazar lie on route to Pokhara and back to Kathmandu.
