Khumjung is a village in the Khumbu region inside Sagarmatha National Park. Mt. Khumbila (5,761 m.) and Tengboche Monastery are major sites in the Khumbu region.
The Island Peak (6,189 m.) is located in the upper Imja Valley. It is also known as Imja Tse. The hike to Island Peak is a popular one. However, the climb is difficult due to steep climbing.
The hike to Kalapathar begins at Gorakshep. Gorakshep is the easiest route that leads to Kalapathar. In Nepali, Kalapathar literally means ‘black rock’. It is one of the most popular hubs among trekkers as it is the most obliging point to the highest peak of the world. In addition to Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kantenga, Pumo Ri, Lhotse, Kantenga, Nuptse, and Changtse can also be viewed from Kalapathar.
