Mt. Ama Dablam is one of the prettiest mountains in the world. This mountain hangs a glacier on her southwest resembling a ‘Dablam’ which is a sacred ornament box worn by ladies in the Sherpa Community. Mt. Ama Dablam lies alongside Everest in the heart of Khumbu Valley. This mountain offers you a spectacular view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Cho Oyu. Mt. Ama Dablam is a technically demanding mountain to climb in Nepal. This mountain is considered as an ornament of the Himalayas in Nepal which stands at an elevation of about 6812 meters. Although it has less altitude compared to other mountains in Nepal, the Ama Dablam expedition requires steep ice, rock and snow climbing. There are usually 3 camps set for climbing the Ama Dablam. However, the two camps are only used to spend the nights. The most used and normal route for this expedition is the South-West Ridge. The ascending climb from Base Camp to Camp 1st is considered as one of the difficult tasks of this expedition.
The climbers need to have good skills in ice and rock climbing. There will be fixed rope on most of the parts of the routes. However, the climbers need to have skills of climbing through steep rock and hard compact ice. For this expedition, we follow the standard South West ridge route since this route is considered as the safest route possible which avoids disaster like an avalanche. Our journey begins at Lukla(2850m). Our initial days consist of trekking through the Sherpa country and reach up to the Khumbu valley. We trek through the beautiful Everest trail before we begin our climbing to Ama Dablam. The Ama Dablam Expedition is truly a wonderful expedition that even accomplished mountaineers are proud of. Upon reaching the summit, it will offer you the most spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the landscapes. This will be worth the climb and time you’ve put on.
