Description

Tsum Valley is surmised to be one of the sacred valleys for Buddhists in the Himalayan belt. This hidden valley lies in the trans-northern region of Gorkha district of Gandaki Province where one can cherish Tibetan-Buddhist culture and most prominently, some astonishing sights of Mt. Manaslu(8,158) Ganesh Himal (7,422m), BaudhaHimal (6,672), SringiHimal ( and many more. The vale is equally rich in ancient monasteries, art, craft and long withstanding Tibetan culture. Natively, the people of this countrified place are called ‘Tsumbas’who have been prospering through trade with Tibet, agriculture, animal husbandry and practicing Buddhism for centuries.

Tsum Valley was a forbidden area till 2008; it hasn’t been long since the government was allowed to explore this magnificently concealed treasure. The vale is also famous for its extraordinary culture, the practice of Polyandry which impeccably resembles the ancient Mahabharat. One will truly get astonished to see all the brothers of a family marry the same girl. Moreover, the place offers a spiritual experience while visiting some of the prominent gompas (Mu Gompa and RachenGompa) that have been enlightening the entire community. Trekkers can also relish the glorious view of Ganesh Himal (7,422m) which is named after the Hindu deity, Lord Ganesh as the southern face of the mountain mirrors the shape of an elephant’s trunk. However, trekkers require an excellent level of physical fitness for long trekking hours during the expedition. At the same time, trekkers can savor the journey with some remarkable views that it offers which will ease altitude problems.
